the Jane Auten book club

Do you think a book club is interesting? Bernadette initiates this idea and gathers around other women, Sylvia whose husband left her for other girl, Sylvia’s daughter, Allegra who is a lesbian (I think in some states in US they legalize this kind of relationship), Jocelyn whose life mostly attach with dogs rather than people, Prudie who is a lady with an unhappy marriage. The most spotlighted member is Grigg, the only guy who read girly book because his lover is Jane’s fan.

Well, I have been marrying six times, so what? You are always happy at first but it tells you a lot when you decide to be with each other (Bernadette). You have already been with each other for more than 20years and he leaves you by saying we have had a successful marriage (Sylvia). A marriage does not always function well. You suddenly feel there is no more feeling toward each other (Prudie). But because of the power of love, I do the thing that I do not like. I am so interested in sci-fi but my girl love novels and I read it for her. All of a sudden I started liking Jane’s idea about relationship and in return my girl feel sci-fi is also interesting. That is how love works in two people (Grigg).

I am over the moon again. I have found my greatest man of all and I am going to throw my seventh marriage soon (Bernadette). Couple is like that. At times, a second chance will work and it work better than ever when you finally find out that your love is so deep in side. There might be time when man does not really know who he truly loves but he finds it out when he is physically with other girl but you are always the one he thinks of every move he makes (Sylvia). Persuasion that book by Jane reminds me what I should do. I thought I am in love with a young boy. Well, it might be because he comes in when I was so down with my husband but before I step a pace forward toward that young boy, Persuasion asks me, what would Jane do. I ran back to my husband and read him the first page of Persuasion. And…yeah we still love each other and we will love more. You should not just walk away with your first feeling because sometimes it might wrong (Prudie). I read the books because of her and I used to give her a sci-fi book but she has never read it. However, I do not give up. She loses the trust in man but I will show it to her I can be trust. Finally she read it and we make it (Grigg). I love him not because he does what I want but because he tells me possibilities is what you give to yourself. You can predict the failure but should not feel reluctant to move forward. Move with a more careful step and that failure will become success (Jocelyn).

Frankly, I chose this movie because I am also fond of Jane Austen. Her novels are not girly but something like…..um… problems and solutions. I guess if you want to know more, let’s read some of Jane’s books and we will also form a club, shall we? It is a shame to tell you that I have read only one of her books, Pride and Prejudice but I seem to over generalize about her comparing to what I exactly know.

  1. I love Jane Austen, too. She’s a good and prolific writer. I’m one of her fans. ‘Sense and Sensibility’ and ‘ Persuasion’ are also good. I bought ‘Emma’ but never had a chance to read, though.

  2. wow, hahha.. hei, ya can read on the bus actually ;) i saw many pp doing so every time i got on bus or train

  3. eh hey..! Emma? sound great. I also want to free myself sometimes for some novel reading. Most of the time I am so busy with my sleep… ;-)

  4. Haha.. Hour, I’ve stopped taking bus for around 4 or 5 months already, and I’m not gonna risk my life reading novel while driving.

  5. Just come to say that you spell Jane Austen wrong. hehe..

  6. Oh oh.. Thanks PM!

  7. hey hey…maybe i am slow or something–i dun have the foggiest idea what the first two paragraphs are about, in general. Hey doon’t get me wrong! I am not making any linguistic comments, okay?

Reading on a bus? I always did that when i was in Sing. I still do it here. There are not many occasions in which i have take any bus, though.

Jane Austin? To tell you the truth, i have never touched on any of her works before. A number of ppl out there are talking about how good they are. But guys, i recommend those by J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown for those of you who love UNEXPECTED TWISTS.

  8. J.K. Rowling?? Harry Potter? Eav…Guess what? I tried reading Harry Potter once or twice, but dunno why I couldn’t concentrate on following up. I finally put the book down after having read the first few pages. It was just not compelling to me while it is to the world. Guess I am allergic to Harry Potter.

  9. Jane Austen, J.K. Rowling!!!!!! Both of them are my favorite novelists(^,^) Luv them terribly. Hahh Haa P.M. You got allergic with Harry Potter??? Heh Heh….So, Ven, we’d better ask Hermione to get a special portion to make P.M. got hooked-up with Harry Potter as we do. lolzz(^,^)

  10. Guess what, pm? That was my first reaction too! Come on…aren’t you curious why people out there are so crazy about Harry potter? Isn’t it obvious that there’s only one reason behind it? that is it’s SO GOOD THAT PPL CAN’T RESIST THE TEMPATION TO READ MORE AND MORE. Are you informed of the very fact that the prime minister of england was so interested in the book that he spent JUST one night to finish the 7th volume, which is the lengthiest one.

  11. Really? Barbie? So apparently i am sure you know how great J. K. Rolwing is in creating a magical so flawlessly that you feel that you are there with Harry, Ron and Hermione all the time. Yeah…or maybe we may resort to Cruciatus Curse eheheh….it’s illegal, though.

Oh one more piece of info for you, PM! In the history of bestselling books, Harry Potter has broken the record of the most number of books sold worldwide. And just because of this Harry Potter thingie to which, you claim, you are allergic to, J.K Rowling is one of the top female millionaires now.

  12. Oops…i totally get too carried away with HARRY POTTER to even notice that this is supposed to be Jane Austin Club hehehe…Well, you may wanna rebutt me by coming up about convincing aruguments that support how wonderful and gifted Jane Austin is…

  13. Well, Ven, you’ve made Harry Potter so special that I feel like I wanna give it a try again. Actually, I was also curious why people are so engrossed in reading this novel. I tried it two times in SAC in IFL and once here, but ended up giving up. Maybe I should give it a try for the fourth time and see if it will work. Feel like I’m an outcast now when everyone is so into it but I find it hard to get to like it.

  14. Good, pm! Finally, you grow up!hehehe…i am sure you will be carried away and will find it hard to resist the temptation to put the book down.

  15. Yep, you might also resist to go to bed if you read Harry Potter at night time cuz I am just like that.:D Heh Heh

  16. Guess what Barbie, I feel sleepy even before reading that Harry Potter because of the thickness of the book.
    Too tough for me!

  17. Oh dear! you feel sleeping even before reading??? Ewwwww! Hahhh Hahhh Funny you ^_^

  18. Oopss Heh Heh not sleeping, its sleepy lah (^,^)
